QB Notes: Surrendering the second most fantasy QB points, the Jags are also top 10 in QB yards allowed. Jalen hurts is the No. 1 overall pick this week. … Josh Allen posted his two highest passing yardage totals of the year since Amari Cooper arrived. While he’s yet to fill the stat sheet himself, his addition seems to have signaled a change in the Bills’ philosophy. … “Doubtful” against the Bears, Jayden Daniels posted a new career high in passing yards (326) and his third-best rushing total (52). That was against a tough Bears defense. The Giants aren’t a pushover, but they are showing signs of cracking under Daniel Jones’ ineptitude over the past few weeks. … Having his best season as a passer, Lamar Jackson now has a new No. 1/2 wideout. It’s an acknowledgment that the Ravens will need to continue to win high-scoring games. Even the Broncos tilt on Sunday has a surprisingly decent game total of 46.5. … Locked in a mini-fall thanks to a string of solid opposing defenses, Joe Burrow has a good home spot in a Raiders D that doesn’t exactly break, but bends quite often.

The pitch is usually Atlanta’s first choice, and it’s an area where Week 9 opponent Dallas is very lenient. However, the Big D is almost as bad through the air, and a total of 51.5 at home doesn’t seem like the place to fade Kirk Cousins‘ Case QB1. … Matthew Stafford he recovered his first two receivers and finished as the overall QB6 against an elite Vikings defense. Worth a QB1 bet against the collapsing Seahawks. …Kyler Murray He’s finally picking up in a few weeks, but he’s a little too shaky for a high-end QB1 bet against a Bears defense that surrenders the second-fewest fantasy QB points as well as the lowest QB rating against. They just held off a much better dual threat in Jayden Daniels until, well, you know… He’s been held to three scores in his last three starts, Sam Darnold he has zero 300-yard performances and has attempted more than 30 passes once all season. The Colts are a plus, but that’s even more true on the field. The Vikings can run to their heart’s content at home. The hope is that putting Joe Flacco under center for Indy leads to a “surprising” shootout.

Still only QB17 in average fantasy points, Patrick Mahomes finished as the, uhh, QB15 in DeAndre Hopkins’ Chiefs debut. Not flashy stuff. We’re still hoping it was the harbinger of better fantastic days to come as Nuk gets up to speed in KC. Sunday vs. a Bucs defense that has the most QB fantasy points will serve as the primary indicator. … Dak Prescott he finds himself in the same boat as Mahomes, except with more trash volume. This shouldn’t be hard to find as a narrow road upset for a matchup with the Falcons with a 51.5 total. … Baker Mayfieldhis first game without his top two receivers? QB5 in general. The Chiefs are a tougher assignment than the Falcons, but that’s how Tampa moves the ball. Especially as a road bum, Mayfield maintains the “hero ball” QB2. … Tua Tagovailoathe first play back resulted in a QB25 finish. Now, the Bills are a much tougher matchup than Arizona. He hovers around the QB1 border because of the weapons at his disposal and the undoubted need to throw the ball all over the yard as a six-point underdog in a game with the second-highest total of the week.

It’s been over a month since the last time Caleb Williams eliminated 30 attempts. The Cardinals are a welcoming matchup on the road, but the Bears aren’t about to abandon their defense first, running game second approach in the desert. That doesn’t erase Williams’ ceiling. It makes it more difficult to achieve. … I spoke more on the subject on Monday, but in short? James Winston plays a different sport than Deshaun Watson. He also plays a different defense because the Ravens are just as easy on enemy passers. Allowing less than 200 yards per game with as many surrendered touchdowns (six) as interceptions, the Chargers’ passing D is a different story. Pass-first Winston is still a decent QB2 streamer at home. Volume is volume. … Jared Goff maintains tight home/road splits while there’s a lot going on for the Packers’ Week 9 road trip. First, we remain uncertain about the Packers’ starter. Goff won’t kill lineups, but there are better places to look this weekend for floor/top combos. … People will look for me to moan Bo Nix in formations against the Ravens’ home cellar pass defense. The question for me is: Which Broncos pass catchers burn this D?

The Chargers pulled away in Week 5, posting three consecutive positive-than-expected pass rates. It was a real change in philosophy, one no doubt due to the fact that they simply lack the personnel to execute Jim Harbaugh’s preferred run-based approach. With Ladd McConkey breaking out and the role players stepping in, Justin Herbert returns to the top 20 even for tough matchups like Sunday’s matchup with the Browns. … Geno Smith he’s failed too many tests to still be taken seriously as a high-end QB2, though he does get DK Metcalf back against a Rams D that allows over eight yards per attempt. … If Malik Willis end the call Jordan Love (groin), he must be taken seriously on the streamer. His two starts produced a combined 12 carries for 114 yards and a touchdown. Think poor man’s Bo Nix with better weapons. … Aaron Rodgers he hasn’t stepped up a week all season and probably isn’t about to start on a short week against the Texans’ stout pass defense. … Derek Carr and Joe Flacco both return to the center. Carr has a dream matchup in the Panthers. Flacco has a “wait until next week” date with the Vikings. … CJ Stroud he doesn’t have the receiver depth — or the blocking — to work his way into lineups on a short week against the Jets.
